New Head of Business Development at Consor

Martin Nokes joined the Consor team on September 1st.  As Head of Business Development, he is responsible for establishing and building customer relationships In the Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Prior to joining Consor, Martin held positions with Credit Suisse, Atos and AdNovum. Most recently, he was Head of Business Development for AdNovum in Zurich. Martin brings significant international experience with him, having managed and built up AdNovum’s subsidiaries in Hungary and Singapore, respectively. He holds a BSc in Computer Science and MSc in IT Management. Dear Martin, you have been a part of our team since the beginning of September. How were your first days at Consor?

I got off to a great start, thank you! You immediately feel that the team is motivated, committed and that everyone gets along well. I was also impressed by the great willingness to help. My background is outside the insurance industry, and Universal is also new to me. Hence, there is a lot for me to learn.

What do you look forward to the most in your new role?

I have a passion for business development and building long-term customer relationships. For me, there is hardly anything more satisfying than implementing new business applications that bring real value to the customer and excite the users. That’s why I’m really looking forward to demonstrating the benefits of Universal to insurance companies, and also to the arising projects. I’m also very much looking forward to the personal relationships that will result.

Where do you see the strengths of Consor Universal?

Consor Universal gives users a high degree of freedom when creating quotes, policies and amendments. An underwriter who works with Universal can even adapt or supplement standard clauses for on a case-by-case basis. Despite this flexibility, all data is stored in a structured database kept there throughout the lifecycle of the business transaction. This allows rules to be enforced, data to be analyzed and processes to be automated. This in turn significantly increases the quality of the output, i.e. documents such as quotes and policies.

This combination is unique and the great benefit of Consor Universal.

But it’s not just about the product. Over the years, I have observed again and again that the best product is of no use in a complex environment if the project team does not have a very good understanding of the customer’s industry and business, e.g. terminology, standards, processes and regulatory aspects. This, however, if just what Consor’s experts bring with them. They been able to build this knowhow over the years thanks to Consor’s exclusive focus on industrial and specialty insurance.

Which developments will you be driving forwards?

My focus will certainly be on familiarizing the relevant insurance companies with the advantages of Consor Universal. I see a lot of potential for Universal in this region.

One particular development that I would like to focus on is Universal as a platform for eco-systems. In the context of our customers, this means employing Universal as a tool for online collaboration between the stakeholders. This already happens internally in that e.g. underwriters, back-office staff and compliance officers interact with each other through Universal. In the future, we want to go one step further and bring external stakeholders such as policy holders, brokers and potential customers on to the platform. Obviously, external stakeholders already interact with insurance companies, but they use traditional channels such as email. Switching to the Universal platform promises significant benefits such as efficiency gains, traceability and an improved customer experience.

And if you’re not working at Consor, what do you do in your spare time?

I spend most my weekends with my family, and in many cases, our 6-year-old daughter insists on deciding what we do. As you can imagine, that means we spend a lot of time in the zoo, at swimming pools and at playgrounds. If I find time, I’ll play a round of tennis at our local club.  In winter all the family enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the mountains.
